[$250-$300] Sony has had a pretty iffy relationship with gamers lately. The whole allowing-your-personal-information-to-fall-into-the-hands-of-hackers thing was totes shitty, not to mention the failure of Move to really wow audiences the way Kinect did. So their timing in announcing the PlayStation Vita, the followup to the PSP and a quantum leap forward for mobile gaming, couldn’t be better. Like anything Sony, the PlayStation Vita looks to be a beast of a machine. It will sport a 5” multi-touch OLED screen, dual touch pads, dual cameras, GPS, six-axis motion control, a three axis compass (don’t know what the does but it sounds useful in survival situation so… +1), and maybe the most interesting part- a special multi-touch panel on the rear of the device. It’s hard to say exactly how powerful a graphics processor the gadget will have, but so far screenshots and videos look like it’s pushing PS3 capabilities. The Vita will be WiFi and 3G connected thanks to a partnership with AT&T (blerg) but it should be noted the 3G version will cost you an extra 50 bones. Look for the Vita to drop around Holiday 2011.
